Coolkit Limited supply refrigerated vehicles to the supermarket industry.

The Incident

An accidental fire at their 60,000ft2 warehouse in Burnley in July 2023 brought production to a standstill putting contracts with some of the UK’s best-known supermarkets under enormous pressure.

Lund & Williams worked closely with insurers along with their appointed loss adjusters, forensic fire investigators, structural engineers and forensic accountants to navigate and guide the business through a very difficult period.

Vast alternative premises were agreed in short order which not only allowed the business to quickly restore production but also streamline and expand its operations, giving it a valuable long-term legacy.

The team at Lund & Williams not only dealt with the business interruption element, it also negotiated with insurers to reach some cover busting settlements including plant and machinery, raw materials and new vehicle stock.

It also acted for the landlords by agreeing settlement at the policy maximum, with the gross settlement exceeding seven figures.

Feedback

“Lund & Williams were recommended to us after a major fire event at one of our factories, and we were glad they were.

Richard was incredibly knowledgeable, a great sounding board for us in early dealings with the insurers and he continued to work closely with us throughout the uncertain period after the fire, helping us to prioritise and understand the nuance of the situations.

We’re very grateful to Lund & Williams for all their help and I’m sure that we got the best result possible with their support”

Lakes Cleaning Limited

The Incident

Lakes Cleaning Limited suffered a serious fire at their commercial premises in Cumbria over the 2024 Easter holidays. Its timing ahead of the busy summer season could not have been worse.

All of their commercial laundry equipment was destroyed and the building so severely damaged, that it took the landlords insurers 15 months to reinstate.

With the assistance of Lund & Williams, the business retained all of its customer base and every penny of revenue, negotiating with insurers allowing their operations to be transferred to a sister company.

Both the stock and machinery elements of the claim were agreed at the policy maximum.

Feedback

When we transferred our insurance supplier from a village one to Prosura the principal at Prosura suggested we may well, or possibly in the event of a claim, find the use of a loss adjuster to our benefit. Having never had a major loss in over 45 years as a business owner I was led by the knowledge of Prosura.

Two months after the start of our new insurance policy we had a disastrous fire in our Ambleside site which closed it for 16 months. At this point Richard Lund of Lund & Williams arrived. It turned out Richard has a wide and deep understanding of the complexities of the operations of a multitude of business types which manifested itself in the empathy with which he treated our claim.

His knowledge and professionalism turned what had become a very emotional and stressful time into a completely calm and manageable event. Throughout the entire claim process Richard used his skills to ensure that he protected us from the complexities of managing the insurance claim process and ensured that the claim process from inception to close was a seamless stress-free event

I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Lund & Williams as loss adjusters in any industry.
